MAKONI OLD PEOPLE’S HOME

Makoni Old People’s Home is situated in Rusape in Manicaland and has 19 residents, 3 females and 16 males whose ages fall between 50 and 97 years. The majority of the residents are ex farm workers from the surrounding farms who either could not be reintegrated into their families or have since lost contact with family members. The former farm workers migrated, in search of greener pastures, from surrounding countries such as, Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia to mention but just a few.

The home however has a board, currently chaired by Mr P. Guta, and is spearheading the development activities currently taking place at the institution.
